Ellen Kossoff

Ellen Kossoff

Ellen Kossoff is a story teller, using markers, pens, wax or oil paint in place of words. Her stories begin as lines on canvas where she creates intricate details that weave captivating plots as complex and meaningful as the imagination allows. Ellen’s pieces are unplanned. Her inspired creativity flows to craft a colorful, vibrant visual narrative, and we are invited into the art to discover a new story, a combination of Ellen’s vision and our own distinct interpretations.
Ellen Kossoff has been an artist for nearly three decades, finding inspiration in her travels to various states in the western and northeastern regions of the country, as well as China, the Middle East and Europe. Other inspiration comes from ancient Asian art forms, such as calligraphy and Japanese block prints. She is also influenced by Joan Miro, Charles Burchfield, and Achille Gorky.
Ellen resides in the Buffalo, New York area where she has exhibited and donated many abstract and representational pieces to art centers and shows. She is a loving partner and mother to one four-legged child.
