Kestrel Michaud

Kestrel Michaud

Kestrel Michaud first started working with fabric in the 4-H sewing club in high school. In the eight years since she first discovered fabric, Kestrel has developed her own unique technique to turn simple swatches of fabric into intricate, beautiful works of art. Each image is made up of hundreds of separate pieces of fabric, and incorporates dozens of different patterns and textures. These qualities combine to give Kestrel’s work a breath-taking impression that cannot be achieved with any other medium.

Kestrel graduated in the class of 2010 from the Ringling College of Art and Design. Her work hung in the Illest of Ill, juried Illustration show in 2008 and 2009, as well as the juried Best of Ringling show in 2010. In 2006, Kestrel’s work was juried into the Lincoln Highway Artisan Trail, a program for accepted artists to display their work at galleries across Pennsylvania. She sold numerous works through galleries involved in this program, including the Bedford Springs Resort and the Jean Bonnett Tavern.

After moving to New York, Kestrel hung and sold several images through the Lotus Gallery in Woodstock. Kestrel’s work has also been printed in the Ringling 100, a coffee-table collection of images created by Ringling students and alumni that will be sold as a scholarship fundraiser.
