Randy began the study of watercolor while in high school with Ralph Creager, a private teacher and member of the Ohio watercolor society. At the age of 17 Randy also attended the Dayton Art Institute for further study of drawing and painting. He was accepted to attend the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), a private arts college founded by Walt Disney.
