Kent Flora

With his endless fascination of light and contrast, Kent Flora’s creative eye captures spirited images to illuminate the world we inhabit and worlds we imagine.
His extensive photographic catalogue encompasses a variety of subjects and styles, illustrating his skill and technical ability. Flora’s expertise and passion are evident in the strength of his images, both black-and-white and color—often using alternative processes, embracing grain, irregularities and noise, experimental techniques, and digital manipulation, to enhance the composition and quality of his unique perception.
The reoccurring thematic focus of Flora’s prolific body of work juxtaposes a contemporary medium and viewpoint with powerful, timeless images of ancient civilizations, architecture, botanicals, foreign cultures, the human form, majestic landscapes, and nature—all dramatic images that evoke your response to his keen vision.
An acclaimed and accomplished photographer for several decades, Flora’s acclaimed and accomplished photography has been honored and published multiple times in local, regional, and national art shows, and is displayed in various gallery events, philanthropic benefits, and private collections throughout Colorado and the country.
Two particularly inspiring images were selected for acquisition by the notable Art in Public Places Program in the State of Colorado. The executive art administrator of the program regards these images as “a beautiful and significant addition to the State Art Collection,” and are installed for public appreciation for display in the State Services Building in Denver, Colorado, adjacent to the State Capital in Colorado.
He has been honored with a comprehensive one-man show of his work at the beautiful, historic Red Bricks Arts Center in Aspen, Colorado.
A graduate of Purdue University, Flora is Creative Director/Principal of Knockout Creative, a full-service marketing communications agency. A lifelong student of the arts and the creative process, he continues his studies at the Art Student League of Denver and RedLine Contemporary Art Center.
He is available for assignments, commissions, and private consultation.
