JL Munro

JL Munro was born in 1949, in Massachusetts, raised in NYC, and her earliest roots trace back to the first settlers of New Amsterdam (New York), and New England. Munro describes her canvases as “pictorial – history” or that they are paintings with a message – actually read by the viewer, like a page in a book. Munro’s favorite landscape subjects include, the waterfront lives in New York and New England. Sometimes it is a bustling city street, or a quiet riverside town, Munro always works for realism, and carefully finishes each canvas to tell a story of American Life. 
American Artist JL Munro, is a contemporary self – taught painter who in more than 60 years of work, has achieved a great amount recognition. Paintings by Munro are listed in many important public and private collections, including The Smithsonian Institution, Museum of American Folk Art – NYC, The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The Fenimore Art Museum – Cooperstown, NY., also the The American Art Museum – Bath, England, The Cahoon Museum of American Art – Cape Cod, The Baseball Hall of Fame – Cooperstown, NY., and the Nantucket Whaling Museum – Nantucket, MA. … is to name only a few. 

Today the Munro’s make their home in Otsego County, Upstate NY. And enjoy their leisure times with family and 20 Grandchildren. 
JL Munro’s paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections including the Estates of the Kennedy family, Barbara Bush and many well known actors and musicians.
