Kirk Timmons

Kirk Timmons is a Michigan-based artist and illustrator whose work celebrates the landscapes, wildlife, history, and everyday treasures of America. A graduate of Michigan State University with degrees in Studio Art and Art Education, Kirk spent nearly 30 years as an art educator while continually developing his own artistic career. In 2024, he retired from teaching to devote himself full-time to creating artwork for collectors and the licensing industry.
Working primarily with pencil, ink, colored pencil, gouache, and acrylic, Kirk creates richly detailed illustrations that he describes as “loose realism”—a blend of accurate drawing, expressive color, and handcrafted charm. Drawing inspiration from American folk art, his signature stacked compositions weave together landscapes, architecture, wildlife, and nostalgic objects into engaging visual stories. Whether depicting the beauty of national parks, coastal villages, sporting traditions or rural America, his artwork invites viewers to slow down and discover something new with every glance.
Kirk’s illustrations have found a natural home in jigsaw puzzles, where their intricate details and storytelling resonate with puzzlers and collectors alike. He enjoys creating artwork that evokes a sense of place, celebrates regional heritage, and captures the memories and experiences people hold dear. His artwork is well suited for puzzles, calendars, stationery, gifts, home décor, and other licensed products that bring meaningful imagery into everyday life.
