Liz McGrath
Liz McGrath has been a professional artist for over 30 years. For her illustrations she creates using watercolors as a base, then layering with colored pencils for details and textures. Acrylics are used to create her paintings.
She received an Associate in Arts degree from Chamerlayne Jr. College in Boston, MA.
Liz began her career as a graphic designer and editorial illustrator for magazine publications. Her passion for illustrating led her to creating art for the children’s market. She has 2 children’s books published, Even More, (Raven Tree Press, 2004) and The Ghouls Come Haunting One by One, (Pelican Publishing 2010).
She has also created greeting cards and paintings for the healthcare environment. Numerous paintings are on display at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital, in Providence RI.
In 2016 Liz was awarded a month-long Artist-in Residence at the spectacular Acadia National Park, in Maine. Most recently, she has been creating privately commissioned pet portraits.
Liz works from her home studio in Providence, where she lives with her graphic designer husband, Tim. Their daughters, Caleigh and Maeve are pursuing their own creative endeavors in CA and PA, respectively.
