
Sharon Pitts
Sharon Pitts has been exploring with watercolor for over 45 years. “Each painting is an adventure of discovering the mysterious ways of watercolor. I engage with the process, I watch the paint flow and merge and I let it show me its endless possibilities, I control it, when necessary, let it do its wonders when inevitably something fascinating emerges.”
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Sharon Pitts holds a B.A. in Plastic and Graphic Arts from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She has studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. She is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art. She has taught watercolor for over 25 years at The Adult School of Montclair and The Montclair Art Museum and currently teaches in person classes at the Van Vleck Gardens in Montclair, NJ and online. She has been invited to give watercolor demonstrations and workshops around the U.S. and Canada and has taught workshops in Croatia, France and currently teaches a Watercolor Art Journal workshop each year in Italy.
She concentrates on painting lush, colorful watercolors based on themes in nature. Her work is in many corporate and private collections.
