Thomas Leung
Born on May 30th, 1958 Hong Kong, Thomas inherited the same artistic vision and technique that his father possessed. Being the eldest of the four sons, he grew up watching his father create beauty on canvas and knew that he too would learn to capture the same enchanting atmosphere that his father’s works gave to art collectors.
In his early youth, Thomas exhibited his first paintings at the Leung Gallery located at the Miramar Hotel in Hong Kong with his father’s works. His family later immigrated to the California United States in 1978 where he went to College of Alameda to major in art. While still in college, he started to develop his own individual style, finding exciting new avenues to express his ideas through abstract painting. He was the first American Chinese to service as art committee in Alameda County California.
Besides painting abstracts, his interest is the subject of mountains. Thomas, liking to travel, the Mountains he chose included Hawaiian volcano’s, Apex, Kailash Summit and mountains in China. Over 40 years of continuous work on his dream.
On canvas, he experimented with colors, portrayed intense movement, and discovered new paths of artistic development that differed from his father.
Past major public shows included Art Expo in New York, Boston and Los Angels. Thomas has galleries exhibitions around in countries that include the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
In 2009 Thomas founded Shanghai Leung Gallery until today. His paintings are collected by art lovers all over the world.
