Artful Images
When did you discover your art gene? I found mine at three years old, drawing on my Etch-a-Sketch!
At five, I was drawing on the outside of the house and when mom found it, I blamed my little sister! She couldn’t even write yet, so of course, we all knew who the guilty one was.
At ten, I was creating dolls out of bits and pieces of sticks and fabric found in the trash pile behind school. Colored markers then became my best friends, creating fun psychedelic posters for friends and family. I joined the Creative Writing club in high school and had the time of my life, writing prose and adding illustrations for the school’s story book we all produced.
As a teen, I carried my handy dandy Minolta everywhere I went, loading in precious rolls of black and white film and getting them processed through the lab of the nearby drug store. Making the changeover to a digital camera was life-changing. The Delete Key on the computer was well-used as I captured thousands of images. My big break into the photography business came when the image I had captured while on a hike was accepted into the international Smithsonian photography contest, and won!
I tried so many forms of art through the years, from embroidery to sewing, macramé to painting. And then it hit me! After entering a photography contest at the big local art center, I saw some very creative digital artworks by one of the instructors there. I vowed to teach myself how to do these magical layers in Photoshop. As technology has evolved, so have my perspectives in digital art. I worked hard on honing my skills to share this newfound art to the world and since then, have never looked back. My passion for photography has continued, all the while learning new skills in the digital world.
I will continue to experiment and progress. The sky’s the limit. I hope that you enjoy my creations as much as I have enjoyed creating them!
